A Love Letter

Dear Ceiling Fan,

You are four dark arms against a white ceiling.  Whoa!  Contrast!  Sometimes you are still.  That's ok.  Sometimes I get to watch you go round and round.  That' s more fun!  Sometimes there are shiny lights on in the middle.  Oooo....neat-o.  That's my favorite.

You look so neat;  I want to get to you.  Now!    Maybe.....now!  I try to reach out and grab you, but you are too far away.  My arms are too short.  I think licking you would be fun, too.  What does a fan taste like?  I stick out my tongue, but nothing happens.  I laugh and I talk to you and you keep going round and round just to make me happy.

You are all the things a best friend should be.  You are always there.  You always listen.  You make me laugh.  Sometimes you make me frustrated and I cry, but then I laugh again so it's ok. I love you, fan.  Let's be best friends forever.

Sincerely,
Baby Jay

Okay. This was the first post I read on your blog. Until I got to the end, I was thinking, "This chick's a nut...I like her!"

My sister's baby's best friend is a gift bag. We're a nutty family.

Here from katdish's blog. Oh, Baby Jay would get along with my nephew. Only his ceiling fan is named "Fanny." And even though he can now walk and play with things at ground level, Fanny will always be his first love.

Beth, I spent lots of time reading old posts on your blog tonight! I'll return your email shortly, but for now I just wanted to say that this cracked me up! My girls all loved the ceiling fan when they were little, too. I'm sure Baby Jay's letter expressed their thoughts perfectly.

I didn't get a ceiling fan until I was thirty-seven, but I understand how he feels...
