Luke 15:20-24 NIV
"But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
21"The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.[b]'
22"But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. 24For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate."

We say good-bye
I turn my back
Run away, run away
So predictable
Not far from here
You see me crack
Like a bone, like a bone
I'm so breakable
And I take everything from you
But you'll take anything
Won't you
Run away, run away
Like a prodigal
Don't you wait for me
Don't you wait for me
So ashamed, so ashamed
But I need you so
And you wait for me
And you wait for me
I'm on the road
To who knows where
Look ahead, not behind
I keep saying
There's no place to go
Where you're not there
On your rope, I hold tight
But it's freeing
And I take everything from you
But you'll take anything
Won't you?
Run away, run away
Like a prodigal
Don't you wait for me
Don't you wait for me
So ashamed, so ashamed
But I need you so
And you wait for me
And you wait for me
Everybody wants to be right
But only if it's not at daylight
I keep trying to find my way back
My way back
Run away, run away
Like a prodigal
Don't you wait for me
Don't you wait for me
So ashamed, so ashamed
But I need you so
And you wait for me
And you wait for me
Runaway
From you

The lyrics are incredible. My pop-up blocker won't let me listen to it, but I'll try to find it on my own. You could probably write a post every day with a different song and I would dig it the most. I am so into song lyrics! Music makes sense to my head AND my heart.
Speaking of Prodigal, Tim Keller has a new book called "The Prodigal God" which is all about that parable. So often we focus on the son that goes away, but the story is also about the sins of the son who stayed and the father's love for them both. It's a short book, but it's really good. I love me some Tim Keller!
I guess we're all prodigals at one point or another. Awesome lyrics...
Beautiful. Really beautiful.
Kathy-
My pop up blocker came up too, but when I clicked "launch free web player" it will play it.
I got a flyer for the Exponential 09 church planting conference in FL today in the mail...I so want to go. Frank got to go last year because someone else cancelled last minute. Tim Keller will be there. And Francis Chan. And about everyone else.

ditto. fantastic lyrics. by far my favorite parable. so much goodness wrapped up in one tiny little story.
Maybe OneRepublic should be inducted into the 'almost' Christian hall of fame. The video link you sent was great, and I'm glad someone likes it when I get down to business!
